Mayor Sushma Kharkwal Inaugurates Cooling Centre at 1090 Crossing to Provide Relief from Heat

Lucknow: In a significant step to provide relief to citizens amid rising temperatures, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal inaugurated a cooling centre at the 1090 Chauraha on Monday.

The initiative has been launched keeping in view the intense summer heat, aiming to offer comfort and respite to commuters and local residents. The cooling centre is equipped with essential facilities such as coolers, fans, and access to chilled drinking water, ensuring immediate relief for people affected by the scorching weather.

Senior officials, including Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr. Arvind Kumar Rao, were also present during the inauguration ceremony.

In addition to cooling arrangements, the centre provides amenities like jaggery (gur), sofas, and beds for visitors, making it a comprehensive relief point for passersby. The move is expected to benefit a large number of daily commuters and pedestrians in the busy area.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Kharkwal said the facility would prove highly beneficial for the public during the peak summer season. She emphasized that the municipal corporation is committed to taking proactive measures to safeguard citizens’ well-being and ensure comfort during extreme weather conditions.

The initiative reflects the city administration’s efforts to address seasonal challenges and enhance public convenience through timely interventions.
