Prayagraj — With millions of devotees set to attend Mahakumbh 2025, authorities have rolled out a robust security framework to ensure the safety of all participants. Over 15,000 police personnel, including 400 female officers, have been deployed in Mahakumbhnagar to monitor the sprawling event. Special arrangements have been made, including three fully equipped police lines with armories, stores, and facilities for staff accommodation and food.
Enhanced Hygiene and Health Initiatives
Special care is being taken to maintain the health and hygiene of the police officers. With security personnel coming from over 70 regions, a central cafeteria within the police lines is providing hygienic meals, including tea and coffee. To ensure optimal operational efficiency, officers are working in 8-hour shifts, as confirmed by Inspector Vilas Yadav.
Technology-Driven Monitoring for Efficiency
Incorporating cutting-edge technology into security operations, specialized software has been introduced to streamline the process. The app stores full information on all deployed personnel, enabling immediate identification through facial recognition. Additionally, digital attendance ensures accountability and eases monitoring efforts.
Dedicated Facilities for Female Officers
Acknowledging the needs of female security staff, 400 female officers are being housed in a separate women’s police colony, which is equipped with a canteen and mess, ensuring a comfortable and conducive working environment for them.
High-Tech Safety Measures at Key Locations
To secure vital crossroad points, the Commissionerate Police has deployed high-tech weaponry, including self-loading rifles (SLRs) and INSAS rifles. At 10 major checkpoints across critical roads, zigzag barriers have been installed to enhance vehicle and human inspections. Armored vehicles mounted with light machine guns (LMGs) are patrolling the area round-the-clock to ensure maximum safety.
Comprehensive Planning and Real-Time Monitoring
Police Commissioner Tarun Gaba, along with senior officials, has created a well-coordinated security plan modeled on successful operations in sensitive zones like Jammu and Kashmir. Extensive CCTV coverage will assist in on-the-ground monitoring, and control centers will provide real-time surveillance to manage any potential security concerns.
Ensuring Safety in Both Urban and Rural Areas
Security measures are not limited to Prayagraj alone. Areas surrounding the city, including Ganganagar and Yamunanagar, are also under heightened security. With pilgrims already arriving ahead of the official start of the Maha Kumbh Mela on January 13, these stringent measures are essential for maintaining order and preventing any untoward incidents. With these comprehensive security and safety arrangements in place, Mahakumbh 2025 is poised to be a well-managed, secure, and spiritually enriching experience for millions of pilgrims from around the world.
