Prayagraj: The Lucknow-Prayagraj National Highway has been closed to traffic due to the massive influx of devotees heading to Prayagraj for the auspicious occasion of Mouni Amavasya during the Mahakumbh. With lakhs of pilgrims gathering for the holy dip at the Sangam, authorities have taken measures to manage the overwhelming crowds and ensure safety.
Barricades have been placed at multiple points along the highway to restrict vehicular movement. Even two-wheelers are not being allowed to proceed beyond certain designated areas. Devotees traveling to Prayagraj are being stopped at specially created holding areas in the district to control the flow of traffic toward the main event venue.
The decision to close the highway comes in light of the immense number of pilgrims, with the administration working to maintain order and prevent congestion. Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate with the traffic arrangements and use alternate routes or public transport facilities to reach their destinations.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation to ensure that the pilgrims’ journey to the holy city remains smooth and hassle-free.
