Lucknow Begins Campaign with Two Consecutive Wins

Open Senior State-Level Invitational Men’s Handball Tournament

Lucknow – Host team Lucknow made a strong start to their campaign with two consecutive victories on the opening day of the Open Senior State-Level Invitational Men’s Handball Tournament.

Organized under the aegis of the Uttar Pradesh Sports Directorate and the Regional Sports Office Lucknow, the championship is being held at the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Multipurpose Hall at KD Singh Babu Stadium. In their first match, Lucknow defeated Ambedkar Nagar 15-8, with Shubham Singh scoring 5 goals and Pravesh Singh contributing 4 goals. In their second match, Lucknow edged past Gorakhpur in a thrilling encounter, winning 25-22. Shubham Singh once again starred with 7 goals, while Nihal added 6 to the tally.

The tournament was inaugurated by chief guest Dr. Anandeshwar Pandey, General Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Handball Association, and special guest Vinay Kumar Singh, Treasurer of the Uttar Pradesh Handball Association, who met with the participating players before the commencement of the event.

Regional Sports Officer of Lucknow Division, Animesh Saxena, welcomed the guests. Also present on the occasion were Amit Pandey, Organizing Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Handball Association, Dr. Sumant Pandey, Secretary of the Lucknow District Handball Association, international handball coach Mohammad Tauheed of KD Singh Babu Stadium, along with Parmendra Singh, Ajay Srivastava, and Sudhir Kumar.

In other matches played today, Amethi defeated Ambedkar Nagar 21-13, thanks to Ajit Raj’s 7 goals. Gorakhpur secured an 18-7 victory over Ayodhya, with Manish scoring 6 goals. Meanwhile, Ayodhya narrowly edged past Amethi 14-13, Mau overcame Varanasi 14-11, and Ambedkar Nagar secured a 17-14 win against Ayodhya.
