LSG captaincy role slips out of KL Rahul’s hands

Lucknow: There is already a possibility of big changes in many teams before IPL 2025. Now  news has also come that the captaincy of Lucknow Super Giants may go from the hands of star batsman KL Rahul. Recently Rahul met the team owner Sanjiv Goenka.

Two players of the Lucknow Super Giants team are in the race for captaincy, which includes an Indian and a foreign batsman. According to the news, Lucknow Super Giants will retain KL Rahul, but he will be seen playing as a wicketkeeper batsman in the team.

KL Rahul is stepping down from the pressure of captaincy as he wants to contribute with the bat for the team, although it is not confirmed who will captain the team in IPL 2024. Sources associated with the team have confirmed that KL Rahul has been retained, but he will not be given the captaincy.

Star all-rounder Krunal Pandya and Nicholas Pooran are two such names who are leading in the race to become the captain. KL Rahul met Lucknow owner Sanjiv Goenka on Monday itself. The meeting of both was official.

Captaincy and retention topics were discussed. Under the captaincy of KL Rahul, the team of Lucknow Super Giants performed disappointingly in IPL 2024. In a match, there was a commotion between Goenka and Rahul. Reports said that Goenka was not happy with Rahul’s captaincy. Sanjiv Goenka had to face trolling due to KL Rahul’s on-camera lesson. It was only after this incident that it was said that the relationship between KL Rahul and the franchise is not good.
