Lucknow: The Mohanlalganj region has become a hotspot for lawlessness, with goons acting fearlessly and without any regard for the police. The incident has also raised serious concerns about women’s safety and empowerment, as law enforcement appears to be providing shelter to criminal elements.
In a shocking display of violence and impunity, a group of goons barged into a house and launched a brutal attack on a woman, Sunita, and her son. The attackers used sticks, rods, bricks, and bare fists, leaving the victims severely injured. The assault was so brutal that Sunita lost consciousness, prompting the perpetrators to flee, assuming she was dead.
Victim in Critical Condition, Family Living in Fear
Following the attack, Sunita was rushed to PGI Hospital, where she is currently battling for her life. Medical reports indicate a severe spinal injury, with fractures in the backbone, adding to the gravity of the situation.
The victim’s husband, Raghuraj, lodged a complaint with the Mohanlalganj police, expecting swift action against the culprits. However, instead of filing an FIR against the attackers, the police booked Raghuraj and his son under charges of disturbing public peace, effectively sidelining the case.
Police Accused of Shielding the Perpetrators
Locals and the victim’s family have alleged that the Mohanlalganj police are protecting the accused. By filing a case of breach of peace against the victims, the authorities have misled senior officials and diluted the seriousness of the attack.
The incident took place in Belhani village, Gaura hamlet, and has sparked public outrage, with residents demanding justice and immediate police intervention. However, no arrests have been made so far, raising serious questions about the state of law and order in Mohanlalganj.
