India’s Dhaakad girls prove a point in archery

Shanghai: The Indian trio of Jyoti Surekh Venam, Preneet Kaur and Aditi Swamy won the gold medal at the Archery World Championships after defeating Turkey 232-226 in the compound women’s team final.

India completed a title hat-trick with this victory. India had earlier also won gold medals in France and Italy.

The Indian team made a good start in the title match and took a one-point lead in the first round. The Indian team increased its lead to four points in the second round by hitting five perfect 10s, two X’s and one 9.

Turkey tried to make a comeback but the Indian team maintained its four-point lead going into the fourth round. India won the gold medal by scoring 58 in the last round.
