Lucknow: Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Environment, Forest, Climate Change and Zoo, Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena, while addressing the review meeting of Ped Lagao-Ped Bachao Jan Abhiyan-2024 at Parijat Auditorium located at Forest Department Headquarters said that during the rainy season, plantation should be done on a large scale on forest land, community land and other government land, agriculture and other private lands in the state with the cooperation of the general public.
He said that this will increase the green cover of the state, adequate rainwater harvesting, carbon absorption, clean air, fertile soil and clean water and increase the income of the farmers of the state. Dr. Saxena gave clear instructions that the plantation target of the state in Tree Plantation Campaign 2024 is 35 crores, in which the target of the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change is 14 crores and the target of other 25 departments is 21 crores, which is the responsibility of the concerned departments to complete in every condition.
Dr. Saxena said that along with planting the saplings, keeping it safe is also an important responsibility of all of us, which is possible only with public participation. He directed the concerned officials and heads of institutions to inform about the current status of the tree plantation done last year within five days.
