“I Wanted To Preserve These Stories”- Says Director Ashwin Kumar As Hombale Films presents Mahavatar Narsimha’ Premieres at 55th IFFI!
Mumbai: Marking a significant milestone in the history of Indian cinema, Mahavatar Narsimha had its world premiere at the prestigious 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). This cinematic gem, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ashwin Kumar, takes viewers on a spiritual and visually captivating journey and depicts the epic narratives of Lord Vishnu’s third and fourth avatars, Varaha and Narsimha.
Taking about the film at the 55th IFFI, the director expressed, “This is not just an animation film; it’s a labor of love and a tribute to our rich cultural heritage. Drawing from the Vishnu Purana, Narasimha Purana, and Shrimad Bhagavat Purana, we have stayed true to the original sources to present a story that resonates with all generations. I wanted to preserve these stories not as myths but as part of our collective history and consciousness.”
The film shows the epic battle between the demon king Hiranyakashipu, who wants to exact revenge on Lord Vishnu, and his son Prahlad, whose unshakable faith forces the Lord to take on the form of Narsimha.
With a cinematic experience that appeals to all age groups, “Mahavatar Narsimha” seeks to elevate the standard for Indian animation. This film took four and a half years to make, with lifelike animation and careful attention to detail.
Ashwin Kumar addressed the notion that animation in India is mostly meant for young audiences, saying, “We wanted to challenge this perception and create a film for everyone. No one believed in our vision initially, but we’ve proven that Indian VFX and animation can be of world-class quality.”
Talking about how the film is just a part of his larger vision, the director added, “This is not just a movie, it’s a legacy. Art that is rooted in research and depth resonates deeply and we are committed to upholding this standard in our future endeavors.”
Mahavatar Narsimha is directed by Ashwin Kumar. Produced By Shilpaa Dhawan, Kushal Desai, and Chaitanya Desai, the film has been made under the banner of Kleem Productions and Hombale Films.
