Fans want Sunil Narine to come back on cricket pitch for good

Kolkata: After scoring a century for Kolkata Knight Riders against Rajasthan Royals, there are signs of former West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine coming out of retirement. In fact, efforts are being made to convince veteran all-rounder Sunil Narine, who is in excellent form, to return from retirement from international cricket for the T20 World Cup to be held in West Indies this year.

Narayan took retirement last year

But the Kolkata Knight Riders star player has till now ‘blocked’ the phone numbers of all those who have tried to talk to him. After the match, Narayan said, ‘For now I have retired from international cricket, but let’s see what happens in the future.’ Narine had retired in November last year and had said that he would sit at home and enjoy the T20 World Cup. He last played a T20 International match for West Indies in August 2019.

Captain Powell appealed to Narine

After the match, West Indies T20 captain and Narine’s opponent in this match, Rovman Powell, also admitted that he is constantly trying to get Narine to change his decision. He said, “For the last one year I have been continuously talking to Sunil Narine that he should come back from retirement. However, he does not listen to anyone. I have also talked to Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Nicholas Pooran about this.” It is expected that by the time the team is selected, Narine and everyone together will take a decision in this regard.

After the win, Powell said, “The morale of the team is very high. Even when I am not playing, the team management people talk to me openly. I have told them that I am looking forward to playing four or five games for the West Indies. I bat at number one, so I can be sent higher as well.”
