Lucknow: The Department of Geography at National PG College, Lucknow, organized a three-day international conference featuring prominent geographers from India and abroad, with both online and offline participation. The event began with the ceremonial lamp-lighting by Professor S. N. Ryan, Head of the Department of Geography. The conference welcomed distinguished guests, including Chief Guest Girjesh Kumar Tyagi, Prof. Mahboob Sahana from the University of Manchester, Prof. Nizamuddin Khan from the University of Nepal, and professors from Aligarh Muslim University, Bundelkhand University, and Lucknow University. A highlight of the event was the release of Prof. Abhishek Kumar Singh’s book on geographical studies. The conference emphasized the significance of geography as an interdisciplinary field. Prof. Nizamuddin Khan remarked that geography transcends disciplinary boundaries and proposed the concept of a “chartered geographer” to guide national planning. The conference also featured a geography exhibition organized by students, showcasing models on cyclones, volcanoes, and urban planning.
