Lucknow: The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh has been shaken following the tragic suicide of former Nishad Party leader Dharmatma Nishad. Before taking his own life, Dharmatma Nishad had accused state minister Sanjay Nishad of being responsible for his death. Days after this distressing incident, the family of the deceased continues to seek justice, grappling with grief and uncertainty.
On visiting the grieving family, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President and former minister Ajay Rai expressed deep sorrow and posed pressing questions to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. “Who will support Dharmatma Nishad’s wife and mother now? Who will take responsibility for his eight-month-old daughter’s upbringing?” Rai asked emotionally. He further demanded immediate action against Minister Sanjay Nishad, calling for his dismissal from the government and subsequent arrest. Rai emphasized that if Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath failed to act, he would be deemed unfit to hold office and should return to his monastery.
Despite several days passing since Dharmatma Nishad’s suicide, justice has remained elusive for his bereaved family. Before his death, Dharmatma Nishad had penned a statement holding Minister Sanjay Nishad and others accountable. His grieving mother, widowed wife, and helpless eight-month-old daughter continue to wait for justice, wandering from place to place in search of help.
Dharmatma Nishad’s only surviving brother, Parmatma Nishad, has been tirelessly seeking justice. In this pursuit, he, along with his family, met with Ajay Rai. Dharmatma Nishad’s wife revealed the sacrifices they made to build the Nishad Party, even selling her jewelry in the process. Dharmatma Nishad, who was deeply connected with the Nishad community, was known for his amiable and cooperative nature. However, as Sanjay Nishad allegedly began prioritizing personal and familial interests over the community’s welfare, many Nishad community members turned to Dharmatma Nishad as their leader. This reportedly infuriated Sanjay Nishad, leading to prolonged harassment, which ultimately pushed Dharmatma Nishad into severe mental distress—a plight he had spoken about on social media before his death.
The lack of action in the case despite the passage of time has been deemed inhumane and a reflection of extreme insensitivity. The sight of Dharmatma Nishad’s mother and widowed wife sobbing and recounting their ordeal has been heart-wrenching for many.
In light of this, Ajay Rai has demanded immediate security measures for Dharmatma Nishad’s family and urged the authorities to take strict action against those responsible for his tragic death.
