Lucknow: Chinhat Police have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with a case involving alleged assault of a complainant, threats to his life and inappropriate behaviour towards his minor daughter.
The arrested accused has been identified as Rahul Tiwari, son of Rajesh Tiwari, a resident of Hardasi Kheda under Chinhat police station. He was arrested from Duda Colony in Hardasi Kheda on September 24 and is being subjected to further legal proceedings.
According to police, a case was registered on June 29 following a complaint alleging that Rahul Tiwari and another accused, Rajesh Tiwari, had assaulted the complainant, threatened him with death and behaved improperly with his daughter. The case was initially registered under Sections 115(2), 352 and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
During the investigation, evidence was collected and CCTV footage was examined by investigating officer Sub-Inspector Ritesh Singh. Based on the findings, Section 74 of the BNS and Sections 7/8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were added to the case.
Following the development, the police station in-charge formed a team to apprehend the accused. Police said Rahul Tiwari, who was named in the FIR, was subsequently arrested.
Police records also show several previous cases against Tiwari, including cases registered under provisions of the BNS, IPC, POCSO Act and the SC/ST Act at Chinhat and Indiranagar police stations. Police said his criminal history in other police stations, units and districts is also being verified.
The arresting team comprised Sub-Inspectors Abhay Singh and Ritesh Singh, Head Constable Gajendra Pratap Singh and Constable Ashutosh Singh of Chinhat Police Station.
