Lucknow: Banthra police have arrested three alleged thieves and taken a juvenile into protective custody in connection with theft cases reported in the Banthra area of Lucknow.
The action was carried out under the direction of Police Commissioner Tarun Gaba and Joint Police Commissioner (Crime and Headquarters) Aparna Kumar. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Mohd Mushtaq, Additional DCP Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Krishnanagar, Abhishek Kumar Pandey, with the police team led by Banthra Station House Officer Rana Rajesh Kumar Singh.
According to police, a case was registered on September 23 on a complaint by Vikas Sahu of Ambarpur, Banthra, after the charger of his e-rickshaw was allegedly stolen. The case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Alok Rawat, Shiva, Vishal Maurya and a juvenile.
In another case registered on August 10, a complainant, Nicholas of Kanpur, reported that unidentified persons had allegedly broken into his under-construction house in Golden City and stolen bundles of electrical wire and other material.
Three police teams were formed to trace the suspects. Police said the accused were identified and arrested through technical surveillance, manual efforts and local intelligence. A juvenile was also taken into protective custody.
During questioning, police said the suspects admitted to stealing electrical wires from the under-construction house and subsequently taking an e-rickshaw charger. They allegedly told investigators that they committed the thefts together to meet personal expenses and out of greed.
The arrested suspects were identified as Alok Rawat, 19; Shiva, 19; and Vishal Maurya, 21, all residents of Ambarpur, Banthra-Sikandarpur, Lucknow. The juvenile was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, while the three arrested suspects were presented before the competent court.
Police recovered one e-rickshaw charger and electrical wire from their possession. The arrests have led to the disclosure of two cases registered at Banthra police station under relevant provisions of the BNS.
