Lucknow: Chief Electoral Officer of the state, Navdeep Rinwa informed that the 18th Lok Sabha General Election and Assembly By-election-2024 were successfully and safely concluded in compliance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. He has expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the voters, all the personnel associated with the election, security personnel and all the political parties and candidates participating in the election. He has also thanked all the media institutions and their representatives for bringing voter awareness and election related activities to the people of the state.
He said that new technologies and innovations were incorporated during the Lok Sabha General Election-2024. Many innovations were also done using mobile apps like Voter Helpline, C-Vigil, Voter Turnout, Saksham, Suvidha, KYC. Free, fair, and inclusive electoral process was promoted so that every voter gets an opportunity to cast his vote. He thanked all the voters of the state and said that by exercising their franchise, they have enriched and strengthened this tradition of democracy.
The Chief Electoral Officer informed that with the announcement of election dates for the Lok Sabha General Election-2024 by the Election Commission of India on March 16, 2024, the process of free, fair, peaceful, fear-free, temptation-free, inclusive and safe election was started in the state, the counting of which was completed on June 04, 2024. During this, strict compliance of the guidelines of the Election Commission of India was ensured to maintain law and order. Along with this, in the effective implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, posters, banners and other promotional material were removed and the Commission’s instructions regarding seizure of illegal liquor, cash etc. were strictly followed by enforcement agencies and flying squads.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that the UP Chief Electoral Officer Office is very grateful to all the voters who stood in queues even in the scorching heat and exercised their franchise. During this, the voters once again proved that the real winner is actually the voter. He also thanked the polling and counting personnel who performed the responsibilities of the election with full honesty and dedication even in the challenges like scorching heat and heat wave.
Expressing gratitude to the security forces, he said that the security forces have shown dedication and commitment in providing smooth, peaceful and festive atmosphere to the voters in the state, facing challenges like scorching heat and heat wave and handling law and order. Along with this, he also thanked the print, electronic and digital media for their excellent contribution.
He also informed that due to the efforts of the Chief Electoral Officer Office, for the first time, the remuneration amount has been sent directly to their bank accounts through e-payment to all the election personnel across the state engaged in the 18th Lok Sabha General Election and Assembly By-Election-2024. Earlier this amount was given in cash.
