Bahraich: Divisional Commissioner of Devipatan Division, Durga Shakti Nagpal, undertook a day-long visit to Bahraich, during which she inspected several development and construction projects, inaugurated a newly constructed synthetic pathway at Rajkiya Indira Udyan and held a public hearing at the Collectorate auditorium.
During the visit, Nagpal directed officials to ensure the timely and quality disposal of public grievances and stressed that there would be no compromise on the quality of construction works. She also called for close monitoring of ongoing projects and adherence to prescribed deadlines.
460-Metre Synthetic Pathway Inaugurated
At Rajkiya Indira Udyan, the Commissioner inaugurated a 460-metre synthetic pathway constructed at a cost of ₹113 lakh under the Regulated Area scheme. She inspected the park along with officials and reviewed cleanliness and other public amenities.
Expressing satisfaction over the upkeep of the park, Nagpal directed the District Horticulture Officer to ensure that the facility remains attractive, useful and accessible to people of all age groups. She also emphasised regular maintenance and continued improvement in cleanliness.
Officials said the new synthetic pathway would provide visitors with a convenient facility for walking and recreation. As part of the park’s beautification, ornamental, decorative and fragrant flowering plants will also be planted. An RO facility has been installed to provide visitors with safe drinking water.
Construction Projects Inspected
The Commissioner also inspected the widening and strengthening work on approximately 18 km of the Bahraich-Faizabad-Azamgarh (SH-30) road, being undertaken under the State Plan at an estimated cost of ₹5,059.15 lakh.
She further inspected the construction of a 450-metre spur at kilometre 40.100 on the left bank of the Ghaghra River along the Belha-Beharouli embankment. The project has an estimated cost of ₹636.50 lakh.
Nagpal reviewed the progress and quality of the works at the sites and instructed the concerned officials to maintain strict quality standards. She directed that additional manpower be deployed wherever required to ensure completion within the stipulated timeframe. Regular supervision and quality testing must also be carried out, she said.
During the inspection of the Belha-Beharouli embankment, the Commissioner stressed that the safety of embankments must remain a top priority in view of flood risks. Officials were instructed to maintain continuous surveillance of the embankments and exercise special vigilance at vulnerable locations.
‘Sandhya Samvad’ Connects Officials with Villagers
Later, Nagpal visited Ahiraura village in Chittaura development block, where a ‘Sandhya Samvad’ programme was organised. She interacted directly with villagers and listened to their concerns and suggestions.
During the programme, eligible beneficiaries were provided benefits under various welfare-oriented government schemes. Study tables were also distributed among children, bringing visible joy to the young beneficiaries.
The Commissioner emphasised that eligible people should not be deprived of government schemes and directed officials to ensure that benefits reach deserving beneficiaries in a transparent and timely manner.
