Lucknow: The rising stars of Lucknow dominated the Junior Badminton Championship held at KD Singh Babu Stadium. Nine rising badminton players won in their respective categories in the 8th edition of PNB Metlife Junior Badminton Championship 2024. Spectators got to see exceptional play across different age groups. In the Boys Singles Under 9 category, Onish Khandelwal won over Aryaveer Singh 15-11 and 15-11, while in Girls Singles Under 9, Kimaya Singh defeated Spriha Rao Gautam with scores of 15-10 and 15-8.
In the Boys Singles Under 11 category, Sumay Tripathi emerged victorious defeating Akshat Shukla with scores of 15-8 and 15-11, while in the Girls Singles Under 11 category, Lavya Anika Patel knocked out Saanvi Kumar with scores of 15-12 and 15-11. In the Boys Singles Under 13 category, Shardul Khatri performed brilliantly in a thrilling match. In the Girls Singles Under 13 category, Garvita Tripathi dominated by registering a one-sided victory against Shreya Santosh with scores of 15-3 and 15-8.
In the Boys Singles Under 15 category, Shubham Solanki cleared the way to victory by defeating Devendra Singh Thakur in a close contest with scores of 15-13 and 15-11. Whereas, in the Girls Singles Under 15 category, Kuhoo and Mansha Rai emerged victorious with scores of 15-9 and 15-9.
Abhinav Panghal dominated the Boys Singles Under 17 category, defeating Hussain Ansari with scores of 10-15, 15-9 and 15-9, while in Girls Singles Under 17 category, Kuhoo defeated Priyanka Gautam with scores of 15-5 and 15-11. Present at the closing ceremony of the competition were distinguished guests Ms. Priyanka Mishra, Chief Insurance Manager, Saurabh Lohatia, Chief Marketing & Communication Officer, Dr. Yogesh Shetty, Chief Physio of Uttar Pradesh Badminton Association and members of Physiotherapist Association, Mrityunjay Kumar, Zonal Manager, Punjab National Bank and Sunil Kumar Singh, Premier Insurance Manager. They handed over the prestigious JBC trophy to the victorious young players in recognition of their victory.
