Lucknow: The Atal Residential Schools initiative of the Uttar Pradesh government has delivered an impressive performance in its very first Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 board examination, recording an outstanding overall result of 93.15 percent.
Launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the ambitious scheme aims to provide quality residential education to children from labour and underprivileged families. A total of 2,178 students appeared in the examination, with a vast majority successfully passing, reflecting both academic excellence and effective governance.
Among the top-performing districts, Varanasi and Prayagraj achieved a perfect 100 percent result, setting a new standard of excellence in the state.
In individual achievements, Sangam Yadav from Azamgarh secured the top position with 97.6 percent marks. Harsh Kushwaha stood second with 97.2 percent, followed by Harshit with 95.8 percent. Other high achievers included Ganesh from Agra (95.4 percent) and Uday Pratap from Moradabad (95 percent). Notably, more than 50 students scored above 90 percent, while around 250 students secured marks between 80 and 90 percent.
Labour and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar lauded the achievement, stating that the scheme was specifically designed to uplift children of construction workers and disadvantaged sections. He highlighted that modern infrastructure, qualified teachers, and a focus on holistic development have played a crucial role in this success.

Principal Secretary (Labour) M. K. Shanmuga Sundaram noted that regular review meetings, mock test series, peer learning, and continuous assessment strategies contributed significantly to the outcome.
Director General Pooja Yadav emphasized that a disciplined and encouraging academic environment has enabled students to perform to their full potential.
Officials believe that this strong debut performance is a testament to the quality and transparency of the scheme, and Atal Residential Schools are poised to emerge as centres of excellence in the coming years, shaping a brighter future for underprivileged children across the state.
