Gonda: Reinforcing its commitment to road safety, the Gonda district administration launched a joint special enforcement drive involving the Transport Department and Dhanepur Police to ensure compliance with traffic regulations, improve the safety of schoolchildren and reduce road accidents.
During the operation, joint teams conducted intensive inspections of school buses and other vehicles at various locations across the district. Officials examined vehicle fitness certificates, insurance, permits and other mandatory documents to verify compliance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The enforcement drive resulted in the seizure of two school buses found operating without valid fitness certificates, insurance, permits and other mandatory requirements. Both vehicles were impounded and parked at Dhanepur Police Station for further legal action.
In addition, six school vehicles were issued challans for violating traffic and transport regulations. Authorities also initiated action against several other motorists found flouting road safety norms under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Alongside enforcement, officials conducted awareness activities, advising vehicle owners and drivers to comply with traffic regulations, keep all vehicle documents updated and operate vehicles only in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
Officials emphasised that the safety of schoolchildren is of paramount importance and warned that strict action would continue against anyone violating transport and road safety regulations.
The Transport Department and district police appealed to the public to follow traffic rules, practise responsible driving and actively support road safety initiatives.
The administration stated that similar joint enforcement campaigns will continue in the future as part of sustained efforts to reduce road accidents, strengthen traffic discipline and ensure effective implementation of road safety laws across the district.
