Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh government has started a new initiative to make the journey of devotees coming to Mahakumbh Mela 2025 smooth, safe and convenient. Under this initiative, devotees will get the facility of app-based e-rickshaw and e-auto booking on the lines of Ola and Uber. The drivers of these e-vehicles will be fully trained and disciplined, and pink taxi service will also be available, which will have women drivers.
Under this service starting from December 15, devotees will get relief from rickshaw drivers who charge arbitrary fares. The aim of the government is to provide affordable and convenient local rides to the devotees during the Mahakumbh, as well as promote the concept of Green Mahakumbh. This initiative will not only conserve the environment, but will also provide safe and comfortable service to the devotees during the journey.
In view of the possibility of arrival of an estimated 45 crore devotees during the Mahakumbh, the government has decided to operate more than 7000 roadways buses and 550 shuttle buses. Railways will also operate around 1000 additional trains. Apart from this, UP’s startup, Comfy E Mobility has started the facility of online e-rickshaw and e-auto booking to facilitate local transport in Prayagraj.
This service will be available from railway station, bus stand, airport and hotels, and devotees will be able to choose e-vehicles during their journey. The special thing is that all the drivers are being trained to behave well with the visitors, and in case of difficulty in Hindi or English, the facility of Google Voice Assistant will also be available.
Manu Gupta, Founder and Director of Comfy E Mobility, said that this service will be environmentally friendly and no commission will be taken from the drivers. Verification of each driver and vehicle owner has been done, and all e-rickshaws and autos will be tracked through GPRS system. Its fare will be completely transparent, which will be determined on per kilometer basis.
Under this initiative, the devotees of Maha Kumbh will not only get a safe and convenient travel experience, but this Mahaparva will become memorable for them. CEO RK Chauhan said, “Our aim is to reduce air pollution and increase employment opportunities by introducing electric vehicles as taxis. After this initiative, we will implement it in other cities of the state as well.”
