Another feather in the UPMRC cap

Lucknow: Another record registered in the name of Uttar Pradesh Metro, World Class Training Center (COET) got recognition of Central Government’s standard body CBC (Capacity Building Commission).

UPMRC will be able to start online and offline courses, training for national and international metro rail institutions” said Sushil Kumar, MD / UPMRC.

The Training Center – Center of Excellence (COET) located at Transport Nagar Depot of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation has been recognized by the Central Capacity Building Commission (CBC) under national standards. UPMRC received the recognition certificate in a program organized at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 12 August 2024 in the presence of Union Minister of State for Personnel and Training Dr. Jitendra Singh.

CBC is an independent body established by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) which accredits departments, ministries and agencies working in the public sector. This prestigious recognition reflects UPMRC’s strong commitment to high quality training in metro rail-based urban transport systems. CBC, managed by the National Board of Education and Training (NABET), examines several parameters before accrediting any institute, going through a rigorous process. These include training needs assessment and curriculum design, faculty development, resources and training goals, trainee support, digitalization and training delivery, collaboration, training evaluation and quality assurance, and operations and governance-related standards.

UPMRC’s training institute has been recognized by CBC in all the metros built across the country. Delhi Metro also received this certificate along with UP Metro. UPMRC’s training institute is equipped with world-class facilities. The certificate given by CBC is a standard proof that UPMRC’s training school COET is playing an important role in providing top-notch education and training in metro and rail-based urban transport systems. Training and refresher training is also being given to trainees of Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra metro rail projects as well as other external institutions from this training school.

UPMRC had provided training to 159 personnel of German government rail company DB, Deutsche Bahn for NCRTC, the high speed rail Rapid Rail running between Delhi and Meerut, at COET in Lucknow. German rail company DB had selected COET for UP Metro after inspecting metro rail training institutes across the country. At present, all 159 employees of DB have received training and are successfully performing their responsibilities in Rapid Rail, RRTS. Apart from this, UPMRC has also provided consultancy services to Ahmedabad Metro for starting passenger service. UP Metro also receives training fees from all these.

UPMRC MD,  Sushil Kumar said, “This reflects our continued commitment to provide training programs not only to our own employees but also to new employees of other metro rail based urban transport organizations. We are honored to be recognized at this level and we will continue to strive for excellence in all our training initiatives. UP Metro now aims to start training programmes for metro or rail services of the country and abroad.
