Lucknow: The Samajwadi Party has demanded the immediate removal of Farrukhabad District Magistrate, alleging political interference in the proposed relocation of 40 polling stations in the Kaimganj Assembly constituency and irregularities in electoral rolls across several Uttar Pradesh constituencies.
Acting on the directions of party national president and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, state president Shyam Lal Pal submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer, Uttar Pradesh, seeking urgent intervention.
The party alleged that the Farrukhabad District Magistrate was acting under pressure from BJP MLA Dr. Surabhi to shift 40 polling stations in predominantly Yadav-populated areas to localities with a significant Thakur population. It claimed that the proposed relocation violated Election Commission guidelines and lacked any reasonable justification.
The memorandum stated that the BJP MLA had submitted a written list identifying the polling stations proposed for relocation. The Samajwadi Party demanded that the entire proposal be cancelled and the District Magistrate removed from the post with immediate effect.
Allegations of duplicate voter entries
The party also highlighted alleged duplicate entries in electoral rolls across several constituencies in Auraiya, Basti and Ambedkar Nagar districts.
In Auraiya’s 203-Dibiyapur Assembly constituency, the memorandum cited instances where the same voter allegedly appeared seven times at polling booth 156, five times at booth 93 and four times at booth 154, with different Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) numbers.
In the 202-Bidhuna constituency, duplicate entries were alleged at polling booths 393 and 196. The party claimed that several such cases existed across the constituency.
In Basti district’s 309-Rudhauli constituency, the memorandum identified alleged multiple registrations of individual voters across different polling booths. It cited cases involving Geeta Devi, Gudia and Durgawati Devi, whose names allegedly appeared five, three and three times, respectively, with different EPIC numbers.

The party further claimed that similar irregularities existed in the Harraiya, Mahadeva and Basti Sadar Assembly constituencies.
In Ambedkar Nagar’s 280-Jalalpur constituency, duplicate entries were alleged at polling booth 151, involving voters Divyanshu Yadav and Vinod Kumar.
Demand for transparent electoral rolls
The Samajwadi Party urged the Chief Electoral Officer to immediately investigate the complaints of duplicate voter registrations and verify the permanent residential addresses of the individuals concerned. It demanded the deletion of duplicate and ineligible entries while ensuring that genuine voters were not removed from the electoral rolls.
The party said corrective measures were essential to ensure that the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections were conducted in a transparent, impartial, free and fear-free environment.
The memorandum was submitted by a Samajwadi Party delegation comprising state secretary K.K. Srivastava, State Working Committee member Dr. Harishchandra Singh and Radheshyam Singh.
The party has sought prompt action from the state election authorities on both the alleged polling station relocation and voter-list discrepancies.
