Experts Highlight Growing Career Opportunities and Emerging Challenges in the Age of AI

Lucknow: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) inaugurated a five-day bootcamp on Cryptography and Cybersecurity, aimed at equipping students with essential knowledge and practical skills to address emerging digital security challenges.

The programme is being jointly organised by the university’s Innovation Hub, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, and the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) initiative. Organised under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Professor J.P. Pandey, the bootcamp will feature expert sessions, interactive learning activities and discussions on contemporary cybersecurity issues.

A major highlight will be a hackathon focusing on real-world cybersecurity challenges, where students will present innovative ideas and solutions to address security-related problems.

Inaugurating the programme, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Rajiv Kumar highlighted the growing incidence of cyber fraud and stressed the need to develop effective preventive measures. He said the bootcamp would provide valuable exposure to students and help them understand the importance of digital safety.

Director of the Centre for Advanced Studies, Professor S.P. Shukla, observed that cryptography and cybersecurity offer significant career opportunities in the present technological landscape. He noted that artificial intelligence has intensified cybersecurity challenges while simultaneously creating new avenues for innovation and employment. Students, he said, could benefit considerably by preparing themselves in the right direction.

Expert sessions were conducted by Dr. Gaurav Mishra, Centre Head, ICSS; Anand Vallabh Joshi from the Department of Mathematics, University of Lucknow; and Vijay Kumar Jhingran, Vice-President of ICSS. They introduced participants to key concepts and emerging developments in cybersecurity.

Earlier, Dr. Upendra Kumar, Co-Principal Investigator of the programme, delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Anuj Kumar Sharma, Chief Investigator, outlined the bootcamp’s objectives and structure. Vandana Sharma, CIO of the Innovation Hub, coordinated the proceedings.
