Lucknow: A state-level Poshan Pathshala organised under the ninth National Nutrition Month 2026 has reached approximately 4.5 lakh beneficiaries and participants across Uttar Pradesh, spreading awareness about the importance of introducing appropriate complementary foods to infants after six months of age.
Organised by the Uttar Pradesh Department of Child Development Services and Nutrition, the digital programme carried the message “Meri Katori, Mera Poshan” (My Bowl, My Nutrition) and was webcast live through the National Informatics Centre (NIC). A total of 1,03,467 devices participated in the programme, with multiple people accessing the broadcast through individual devices.

The initiative focused on educating parents, Anganwadi workers and communities about the need to introduce nutritious complementary foods at the right time to support healthy growth and development.
Leena Johri, Additional Chief Secretary for Women Welfare and Child Development, emphasised that providing appropriate and nutritious complementary food after an infant completes six months is essential for healthy development. She said the campaign aims to take accurate nutrition-related information to households and improve awareness among parents and communities.

Videos released during the programme on complementary feeding and child nutrition have also been uploaded to the department’s YouTube channel, enabling wider access to the educational material.
Officials and experts present included ICDS Deputy Director Anupama Shandilya, Suresh Kumar Pal, UNICEF nutrition expert Dr Ravi Narayan Parhi, Dr Vandana Naidu and Dr Anand of UP TSU, and Abhishek Dubey, Joint Project Coordinator of the Poshan Abhiyaan.
The initiative seeks to strengthen community awareness about early childhood nutrition and reinforce the importance of timely complementary feeding in laying the foundation for children’s healthy growth.
