Road Restoration Campaign to Run in Rural Areas from October 1 to November 10
Lucknow: A large-scale road restoration campaign will be conducted across rural Uttar Pradesh from October 1 to November 10, 2026, to repair roads damaged during the laying of pipelines under rural drinking water schemes.
Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh reviewed various drinking water schemes division-wise through a video conference from the State Water and Sanitation Mission office on Monday. He directed officials to expedite pending works in villages that have not yet received drinking water facilities and ensure that residents get access to water at the earliest.
During the meeting, the minister also reviewed preparations for the road restoration campaign. He directed officials to ensure that roads dug up for laying drinking water pipelines are repaired on priority and according to prescribed standards. Regular monitoring of restoration work throughout the campaign was also ordered.
Singh made it clear that if complaints related to road restoration are received after November 10, accountability will be fixed not only on the concerned agency but also on the responsible engineer. He said negligence at any level in the implementation of drinking water schemes would not be tolerated.
Complaints Through Jal Sarathi App
A special facility has been introduced on the Jal Sarathi app to enable residents to report road-related problems. People in rural areas can upload photographs and videos of damaged roads through the app and register complaints. Concerned officials will take necessary action based on the complaints received.
Focus on Timely Completion of Water Projects
The minister directed officials to prioritise and complete drinking water projects in areas where supplies have not yet been ensured. He stressed the need to maintain quality standards and complete projects within the stipulated timelines.
Several agencies were issued strict warnings during the review meeting for delays and negligence. Singh directed officials to fix responsibility and initiate necessary action wherever negligence is found in the implementation of the schemes.
Additional Chief Secretary, Namami Gange and Rural Water Supply Department, Uttar Pradesh, Anurag Srivastava, and Executive Director of the State Water and Sanitation Mission, Joginder Singh, along with other senior officials, attended the meeting.
