AIIMS Rae Bareli Hosts Workshop on Advanced Laser Surgery in ENT

Rae Bareli: The Department of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) at AIIMS Rae Bareli successfully organised a workshop on advanced laser surgery, focusing on the use of laser technology in the management of complex airway and laryngeal disorders.

The two-day workshop brought together ENT surgeons from across India and aimed to strengthen their skills through practical training and exposure to advanced laser-assisted surgical techniques.

The first day featured live surgical procedures, giving participating surgeons an opportunity to observe the practical application of laser technology in challenging airway conditions. The sessions also provided exposure to contemporary surgical techniques and approaches used in the treatment of complex ENT disorders.

The second day was dedicated to cadaveric dissection and hands-on practical training, enabling participants to develop and refine their surgical skills in a controlled training environment.

Senior faculty members and experts from leading institutions, including PGIMER Chandigarh and Lucknow, participated in the workshop and shared their expertise, surgical experience and technical knowledge with the participants.

On the occasion, AIIMS Rae Bareli Executive Director Dr Amita Jain emphasised the importance of practical training programmes in modern medical education. She said workshops of this nature form an important component of advanced surgical training and help doctors develop proficiency in the use of latest technologies such as lasers, ultimately contributing to improved patient care.

According to Dr Ananya Soni, laser technology has emerged as an important tool in the management of airway stenosis and several other laryngeal disorders. Laser-assisted procedures can provide effective treatment and, in several cases, may help avoid the need for conventional open surgery.

The introduction and training in advanced laser technology is expected to further strengthen the institution’s capabilities in managing complex disorders of the throat and airway.

The successful organisation of the workshop under the guidance of Executive Director Dr Amita Jain reflects AIIMS Rae Bareli’s commitment to advanced surgical training, technology-driven healthcare and continuous professional development.

Dr Arijit Jotdar and Dr Dhruv Kapoor played a key role in the successful organisation of the workshop.

The programme provided participating surgeons with valuable hands-on exposure and an opportunity to enhance their expertise in advanced laser-based ENT procedures.
