Lucknow: The CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (CSIR-NBRI), Lucknow, will organize a Two-day National Symposium on “Hormonal Cross-talk Regulating Plant Development and Stress Responses” on 15–16 July 2026 at the K.N. Kaul Block, CSIR-NBRI, Lucknow. The symposium is being organized with the support of the and the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Department of Biotechnology (DBT, Government of India,. The event will bring together eminent scientists, academicians, researchers, faculty members and students from leading research institutions and universities across the country to deliberate on recent advances in plant hormone signalling, developmental biology, genomics, biotechnology and stress responses.
The symposium aims to provide a national platform for scientific exchange on the intricate hormonal networks that regulate plant growth, development and adaptation to environmental stresses. Discussions during the two-day event are expected to focus on fundamental discoveries as well as translational research that can contribute towards developing climate-resilient and high-yielding crop varieties for sustainable agriculture.
Around 150 delegates including prominent scientists in this area are expected to attend the symposiums from across the country. The Inaugural Function will be held on Wednesday, 15 July 2026 at 10:00 AM at CSIR-NBRI. The function will be inaugurated by Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Chairperson, Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers’ Rights Authority (PPV&FRA), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, as the Chief Guest.
The symposium is divided in three sessions- I. Hormonal and Developmental Regulation; 2. Genomics, Gene Regulation and Biotechnology; 3. Stress and Nutrient Biology and the invited speakers coming from different Institutes and IISERs will deliver talks. An interactive poster presentation by young researchers is also scheduled during the symposium.
The symposium will conclude with the Valedictory Function on Thursday, 16 July 2026 which will be graced by Dr. Ashwani Pareek, Executive Director, BRIC–National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute (NABI), Mohali, as the Chief Guest.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dr. Ajit Kumar Shasany, Director, CSIR-NBRI, said that the symposium has been designed to foster scientific interactions among researchers working in plant developmental biology, molecular genetics, physiology and biotechnology. He expressed confidence that the deliberations would promote interdisciplinary collaborations and generate new insights for developing sustainable agricultural technologies in the face of climate change.
According to the convenors of the symposium Dr Samir Sawant and Vidhu Sane, this two-day event is expected to strengthen scientific collaborations and provide young researchers with valuable opportunities to interact with leading experts in the field of plant sciences.
