Lucknow: Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath, who are committed to doubling the income of farmers, the Agriculture Department is working to provide the benefits of every scheme to every farmer in a transparent manner to make the farmers of Uttar Pradesh strong and prosperous.
This was said by the Agriculture Minister of the state, Surya Pratap Shahi, during the State Level Kharif Productivity Seminar-2024 organized at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan on Wednesday. On this occasion, the ministers of the allied departments of agriculture, Sugarcane Development and Sugar Mill, Animal Husbandry and Milk Development, Cooperation, Horticulture, Forest and Environment Department and the Minister of State for Agriculture, Agriculture Production Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture also expressed their views.
Addressing the farmers, employees and officers present in the seminar, Agriculture Minister Shahi said that at present the productivity of all crops in the state has increased. The productivity of paddy has increased from 40.51 quintals per hectare to 46 quintals per hectare, the productivity of millet has increased from 20.82 quintals per hectare to 27.7 quintals per hectare.
Along with this, there has been a rapid improvement in the production and productivity of jowar, urad, oilseeds, groundnut, sunflower and coarse grains. He said that accurate weather information is being provided to farmers through the satellite based system of the Indian Meteorological Department. Irrigation is being made cheap and available all the time through solar pumps.
On this occasion, Sugarcane Development and Sugar Mill Minister Shri Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary said that prompt payment is being ensured to sugarcane farmers. Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Dharampal Singh said that animal husbandry and agriculture are complementary departments, so farmers should take both together. Minister of State for Cooperation (Independent Charge) JPS Rathore said that after the Yogi government came, the cooperative sector has been reborn in the state.
Also, cooperative banks have become a ray of new hope for farmers. Minister of State for Horticulture (Independent Charge) Dinesh Pratap Singh said that at present, the horticulture production of Uttar Pradesh is getting a new identity all over the world. Therefore, this sector is proving to be very beneficial for the farmers. Minister of State for Forest and Environment (Independent Charge) Arun Kumar Saxena said that the temperature is increasing rapidly every year, therefore, along with farming, double benefit can be taken by planting more and more trees.
Agriculture Production Commissioner Manoj Kumar Singh laid special emphasis on adopting diversification in agriculture. He assured the farmers that transparency is being adopted at every level to make the benefits of agriculture sector schemes available to the farmers. During this, he also included various suggestions received from the farmers in his speech. Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi gave information about various schemes run by the Agriculture Department and motivated the farmers to take advantage of all those schemes as per their eligibility.
Agriculture Director Dr. Jitendra Kumar Tomar thanked all the participants. During this, hundreds of farmers from all over the state, Director Horticulture, Director Mandi and officials of agriculture and allied departments were present.
