Lucknow: In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening the small livestock sector, generating employment, promoting entrepreneurship, and enhancing farmers’ incomes, the Animal Husbandry Department of Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with D.R.E.A.M.S., will organize the state’s first-ever UP Small Livestock Conclave 2026 on June 17 and 18 at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.
The two-day conclave will be inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Dharampal Singh, who will attend as the chief guest. Minister of State for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Krishna Paswan will also participate in the inaugural session.
The event is expected to bring together stakeholders from across the country, including representatives of leading research institutions, agricultural and veterinary science universities, industry leaders, startups, financial institutions, self-help groups, and progressive livestock farmers.
Providing details about the conclave during a press conference, Dr. Mempal Singh said the primary objective of the event is to create a common platform for farmers, entrepreneurs, researchers, and stakeholders associated with sheep, goat, and pig farming.
“The conclave will facilitate discussions on scientific livestock management practices, emerging research, business opportunities, value addition, processing, marketing strategies, and investment prospects. It will help formulate future-oriented strategies for the sustainable growth of the small livestock sector,” he said.
Focus on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Investment
The conclave will feature a wide range of activities designed to promote knowledge-sharing and business development within the sector. These include:
- Scientific and technical sessions
- Farmer-entrepreneur interaction forums
- Startup and innovation presentations
- Industry and institutional exhibitions
- Discussions on financial and investment opportunities
- Experience-sharing sessions by successful livestock farmers
- Training and capacity-building workshops
Officials said the event aims to bridge the gap between scientific advancements and grassroots livestock farming practices while encouraging greater participation from entrepreneurs and investors.

Strengthening Rural Economy and Livelihoods
Small livestock farming, particularly goat, sheep, and pig rearing, is increasingly emerging as an important source of livelihood and rural economic growth in Uttar Pradesh. The sector has also become a key avenue for self-employment among women and youth.
Experts note that new opportunities are rapidly developing in livestock production, processing, value addition, and marketing. The conclave seeks to ensure that farmers and entrepreneurs across the state are able to access these opportunities and benefit from the latest innovations and market trends.
The Animal Husbandry Department emphasized that the event aligns with the state government’s efforts to strengthen the rural economy, promote sustainable livestock-based enterprises, and create additional income streams for farming communities.
Call for Wider Participation
The department has invited livestock farmers, entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, non-governmental organizations, self-help groups, and other stakeholders to participate in the conclave and contribute to discussions on the future of the sector.
Officials expressed confidence that the UP Small Livestock Conclave 2026 will serve as a landmark platform for collaboration, innovation, and investment, helping unlock the full potential of small livestock farming in Uttar Pradesh while supporting rural livelihoods and economic development.
With growing demand for livestock products and increasing opportunities in allied industries, the conclave is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the future roadmap for the state’s small livestock ecosystem.
