Energy Minister A.K. Sharma Orders Strict Action Against Negligent Power Department Officials

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma has directed strict action against officials of the electricity department found negligent in discharging their duties, particularly during the ongoing summer season when power demand remains high.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted and quality electricity supply to consumers, the minister stated that any negligence affecting public convenience would not be tolerated.

Following the minister’s directions, Yogesh Kumar, posted as Executive Engineer in Meerut, was suspended with immediate effect for alleged negligence in departmental work.

Similarly, Rahul, an Executive Engineer posted in Ghaziabad, was also suspended after a preliminary inquiry reportedly found serious lapses in the discharge of official responsibilities in the Electricity Distribution Division-II, Ghaziabad.

In another action, Ramanand, serving as Superintending Engineer in Ghaziabad, was issued a special adverse entry for showing inadequate interest and lack of expected responsiveness in departmental work.

Warnings were also issued to Satyendra Singh, Chief Engineer (Transmission West) Meerut, and Shailesh Gupta, Chief Engineer Agra, over alleged negligence in monitoring and execution of power-related works.

Speaking on the matter, Minister A.K. Sharma said the state government is fully committed to providing uninterrupted and reliable electricity supply to the public. He stressed that during the peak summer season, officials at every level must remain alert and accountable.

The minister instructed departmental officers to prioritise power supply management, prompt grievance redressal and effective field monitoring to ensure that citizens do not face unnecessary inconvenience.

The action is being viewed as part of the state government’s broader effort to strengthen accountability and improve electricity services across Uttar Pradesh.
