30-Day Value-Added Programme on Sustainable Development Concludes at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University

Bareilly: The Department of Regional Economics at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University successfully concluded its 30-day online value-added programme on the theme “Sustainable Development Goals: Towards an Inclusive and Resilient Future.”

The concluding session began with a welcome address by Dr. Janki, followed by a brief report on the programme presented by Dr. Rizwan Qasim.

Addressing the participants, Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. P. Singh emphasized the importance of such academic initiatives in creating awareness among students regarding sustainable development goals (SDGs). He expressed gratitude to all experts, faculty members, and participants associated with the programme.

The chief guest of the valedictory session, Prof. Arun Diwakar Nath Vajpayee, highlighted that India has traditionally followed many principles of sustainable development through its cultural values, environmental ethics, and community-based way of life.

He observed that despite significant differences in geography, topography, and demographics among countries, the adoption of uniform sustainable development goals for all nations reflects a key limitation of the global framework. Stressing the importance of balanced living, he said societies should focus on limited and responsible consumption rather than excessive consumption and should encourage indigenous and sustainable lifestyles.

During the session, Prof. Ashutosh Priya thanked all guests and participants, stating that achieving sustainable development goals requires active public participation alongside government initiatives.

Over the course of the 30-day programme, detailed lectures were delivered on all 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Students were also sensitised to various related issues through expert sessions conducted by scholars and subject specialists from India and abroad.

Faculty members including Dr. Ruchi Dwivedi, Dr. Ajit Singh, Dr. Israr Khan, Dr. Subodh Dhawan, Prof. M. L. Maurya, Aditya Gautam, Vishwajeet Prajapati, and other department members played an important role in the successful organisation of the programme.
