SGPGI Marks International Nurses Week with Grand International Nursing Webinar

Lucknow: Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) organised a grand International Nursing Webinar at its Telemedicine Auditorium as part of the International Nurses Day Week celebrations on May 9, 2026.

The webinar marked the successful culmination of a series of scientific and academic activities dedicated to nursing excellence, advanced patient care, evidence-based practice, and the empowerment of nursing professionals.

The programme began with addresses by Neelam Srivastava, Assistant Nursing Superintendent, Ancy Jayaraj, Deputy Nursing Superintendent, and Neema Pant, Assistant Nursing Superintendent. The scientific sessions were coordinated by senior nursing professionals including Manju Singh, Chief Nursing Officer, Alka Mohan, Anita Walter, Jyotibala, and other experts from the nursing administration.

The webinar brought together renowned national and international speakers from different parts of India and the United Arab Emirates, who shared insights on various aspects of evidence-based nursing practice (EBP).

Uma Rani Adhikari from West Bengal discussed strategies for implementing evidence-based nursing practices, while Balamoni Bose highlighted the role of evidence-based practice in patient safety and quality healthcare.

Rajalaxmi Mishra from Odisha delivered an informative lecture on evidence-based clinical nursing practices. Sabana Khatun from the College of Nursing, SGPGI, focused on translating research into patient care.

Further enriching the sessions, Shampa Gupta spoke about evidence-based approaches in intravenous pain management, while Anjana Bala Behura elaborated on the challenges and opportunities in implementing evidence-based nursing practices.

Scientific discussions also included a presentation by Nibedita De from ESI Joka, Kolkata, on infection prevention in maternity and labour rooms. International guest speaker Sharon Sheeba Thambithurai emphasised the importance of evidence-based practices in critical care nursing.

Usha Mallik highlighted the significance of evidence-based neonatal nursing care, while Meera Prajapati from AIIMS Delhi discussed evidence-based prevention of surgical site infections and the role of nurses in operating theatre practices.

Organisers said the webinar significantly benefited the nursing community by enhancing professional knowledge, promoting research-oriented clinical practices, and encouraging continuous professional development and quality improvement in patient care.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Juin Dutta Ghosh, who expressed gratitude to all distinguished speakers, organisers, moderators, and participants for contributing to the success of the event. She was also honoured by the nursing administration for her dedicated contribution to the successful organisation of the webinar.

The event was efficiently anchored by Abhishek Nahar and Kanika Jainth. Around 200 participants from India and abroad attended the webinar, reflecting the growing global importance of evidence-based nursing and collaborative healthcare learning.

The successful conclusion of the International Nursing Webinar reaffirmed SGPGI’s commitment to strengthening nursing education, research, patient safety, and evidence-based clinical practices, while creating a meaningful platform for knowledge exchange and professional collaboration in healthcare.
