On International Women’s Day, Yogi Government gives a gift of ₹38.49 crore to Anganwadi workers

Lucknow: CM Yogi Adityanath distributed several benefits to Anganwadi workers during a programme organized in Lucknow on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Taking an important step towards strengthening and ensuring the safety of Anganwadi workers, a total amount of ₹38.49 crore was directly transferred through DBT.

CM Yogi also promised to increase the honorarium of Anganwadi workers. The state government is continuously working for the empowerment, dignity and self reliance of women through its schemes and policies.

The state government transferred ₹29.59 crore through DBT to Anganwadi workers and helpers for saree/uniform. CM Yogi presented sarees on the stage to Neha Dubey, Mansi Sahu, Poonam Tiwari and Manorama Mishra. Uniforms were presented to Seva Mitra Akanksha (Beautician) and Ratna Bharti. This is a major initiative under women empowerment, aimed at making Anganwadi workers self reliant and providing them with a distinct identity at their workplace.

Mansi Sahu, an Anganwadi worker from Raniganj in Lucknow, said, ‘Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has arranged saree/uniform for us on Women’s Day. We are very happy with this decision. The Yogi government listens seriously to every problem of ours and works to resolve them. The Yogi government is providing us funds for uniforms, which makes it different from other governments’. Anganwadi workers and helpers are also excited that the Yogi government is working towards increasing their honorarium.

As a mark of respect for Anganwadi workers and appreciation of their contribution, the Yogi government has presented them with the gift of saree/uniform. This initiative not only reflects the government’s sensitivity towards their work but also strengthens the dignity and uniformity of Anganwadi centers. Receiving sarees/uniforms has boosted the confidence and enthusiasm of the workers.

Anganwadi helper Poonam Tiwari appeared very happy with this gift from the government.
Appreciating the government, she said, ‘Earlier governments never thought about them, but now the Yogi government is supporting them on every front’.

The government has transferred ₹8.90 crore towards insurance premium for Anganwadi workers. Through this, the government aims to ensure financial security and essential facilities for the workers. To provide social security to Anganwadi workers, supervisors and helpers, they have been linked with Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.

Eligible workers in the age group of 18 to 50 years receive a life insurance cover of ₹2 lakh under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana in case of death due to any reason, with an annual premium of ₹436. Similarly, eligible workers in the age group of 18 to 59 years receive an insurance cover of ₹2 lakh in case of death or complete permanent disability due to an accident and ₹1 lakh for partial permanent disability under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, with an annual premium of ₹20. Under these schemes, the premium of eligible beneficiaries is paid directly through DBT.
