Lucknow: The seventh phase of the Sarojininagar Sports League witnessed a thrilling finish on Wednesday as the inter-school boys’ and girls’ basketball tournament concluded at the SKD Academy courts in Vrindavan Yojna. DPS Eldeco emerged as the undisputed champion, securing victories in both categories against Seth A.R. Jaipuria School.
The finals drew an enthusiastic crowd, with fast-paced action and remarkable displays of skill from young athletes. Eshan Singh was named Player of the Tournament in the boys’ category, while Anushka Panda claimed the honor in the girls’ division. Both were awarded a special shield and ₹5,000 in cash. Winners received ₹25,000 each, and the runner-up teams were given ₹11,000, along with certificates of appreciation for all participants.
Chief guest Dr. Rajeshwar Singh, MLA of Sarojininagar, presented the prizes. Applauding the players, he remarked, “The youth are the true strength of the nation, and the sports field is the best platform to inculcate discipline, hard work, and leadership.” He also announced upcoming sporting events, including inter-club and inter-school football matches starting from Gandhi Jayanti, followed by a cross-country race in November.
The Sarojininagar Sports League, launched on December 4, 2022, with an under-19 girls’ basketball tournament, has since grown into a multi-sport platform. Over its phases, the league has hosted hundreds of matches across cricket, football, volleyball, and basketball, with thousands of young athletes showcasing their talent. The seventh phase alone featured 26 boys’ teams and 23 girls’ teams, competing in 50 matches.

The event was graced by SKD Academy founder S.K.D. Singh, Director Manish Singh, DPS Eldeco Principal Manisha Antwal, BJP leader Shiv Shankar Singh Shankari, Rama Shankar Tripathi, Block Pramukh Sunil Rawat, Councillor Kaushalendra Dwivedi, Sanjeev Awasthi, and other dignitaries, educationists, and social workers.
