Rae Bareli: AIIMS Raebareli’s Department of General Surgery has successfully performed a highly complex open nephrectomy to remove a massive kidney abscess measuring 36×21 cm. Due to its proximity to major blood vessels and vital organs, the surgery posed significant risks including heavy bleeding, organ injury, and post-operative complications.
Despite these challenges, the dedicated surgical team, led by Dr. Neeraj Srivastava and Dr. Amritanshu Saurabh, with support from residents Dr. Nikhil, Dr. Snehita, Dr. Somtirth, and Dr. Vishnu Siddharth, executed the surgery successfully. The patient has been discharged and is recovering well.
Anesthesia care was handled by Dr. Vinay Pathak and team, while nursing officers Ranu, Nitasha, and Pallabi, along with OT assistant Sandhya, played crucial roles. The entire General Surgery department contributed to meticulous planning and vigilant post-op care.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Maj. Gen. (Dr.) Vibha Dutta and Academic Dean Prof. Neeraj Kumari, AIIMS Raebareli continues to set new benchmarks in complex surgical care.
