MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN TELECOM CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE INDIA AND INDIAN ARMY CENTRAL COMMAND FOR
UNDERTAKING TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT OF PROJECT ON DEVELOPMENT OF NAVIGATION WITH INDIAN CONSTELLATION INTERGATED GUIDED AERIAL DELIVERY SYSTEM

of Excellence (TCOE) India have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on research and development of the Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) Integrated Aerial Delivery System. This partnership aims to leverage indigenous technology for enhancing precision air delivery capabilities of Indian Army in challenging operational environment.

This MoU was signed by senior representatives from TCOE India and Chief of Staff, Headquarters Central Command in the presence of key officials and domain experts. This Research and Development Project, aligned to the vision of Atma-Nirbhar Bharat, was conceptualised and guided by Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Surya Command, based at Lucknow. The agreement underscores the commitment to foster innovation, self-reliance, and the application of advanced telecom and satellite-based navigation technologies in defence operations. The 50 (Independent) Parachute Brigade Group has been nominated by HQ Central Command to guide and monitor the ibid Research and Development Project.

Under this initiative, TCOE India will provide expertise in satellite navigation, telecom integration, and guided systems, while the Indian Army will contribute its operational insights and requirements to ensure practical and effective deployment of the technology. The project will focus on developing a robust and accurate air delivery system using NavIC, India’s indigenous alternative to GPS, to further enhance operational logistics, humanitarian aid delivery, and tactical resupply operations.

Speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta stated, “This collaboration with TCOE India marks a milestone event in development and utilization of indigenous technology for aerial delivery missions, which are crucial for our operational readiness in remote and high-altitude terrain”.

Lieutenant General Mukesh Chadha, AVSM, SM, VSM, Chief of Staff of the Surya Command stated that the initiative exhibits the commitment of the Indian Army and TCOE India towards development of indigenous systems to enhance our operational capabilities.

Mr Pankaj Yadav, Program Manager, TCOE India, emphasized that this collaboration affords the domestic R&D agencies, opportunities to contribute to enhance Indian Army’s capabilities.

This initiative is one of the many projects, being spearheaded by the Surya Command, that align with the Atma-Nirbhar Bharat vision, and promote indigenous technological advancements in defence applications. The joint efforts of the Indian Army and TCOE will pave the way for cutting-edge solutions that strengthen national security and defence operational effectiveness.
