China defeated South Korea 16-12 in the gold medal match of the 10m air rifle mixed team event. China’s pair of Yuting Huang and Lihao Sheng performed brilliantly in shooting. China became the first country to win a medal at the Paris Olympics.
Paris Olympics 2024: China wins first gold medal
China’s mixed shooting pair Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao made a great start to their campaign by defeating South Korean pair Kim Jihyon and Park Hajun 16-12 in the final of the 10m air rifle mixed team event on Saturday.
China took the lead from the early stages and maintained its lead in the end despite the efforts of the Korean players. With this, China defeated South Korea to win the first gold medal of the Paris Olympics. While South Korea had to be content with silver.
Paris Olympics 2024: Kazakhstan won the first medal
Earlier in the day, China and Korea finished first and second in the qualification round. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan won the first medal of Paris 2024. It got a bronze medal. This is Kazakhstan’s first Olympic medal in shooting since 1996. Kazakhstan’s mixed 10m rifle pair Alexander Le and Islam Satpayev won the first medal of Paris 2024.
India disappointed
India’s 10m air rifle mixed team pair Ramita Jindal-Arjun Babuta and Sandeep Singh-Elavenil Valarivan faced disappointment. Both the pairs failed to make it to the medal round of their events at the Chateauroux Shooting Range on Saturday.
