45 Crore Devotees, Zero Cyber Threats: UP’s Robust Security Plan

Prayagraj: The Yogi Adityanath government is gearing up to make the Maha Kumbh 2025 a grand and secure event, introducing unprecedented levels of digitization and robust cybersecurity measures. With an anticipated attendance of over 45 crore devotees from across the globe, these efforts are designed to ensure both convenience and safety for all participants.

Cybersecurity Measures for Maha Kumbh 2025

Digitization and Fraud Prevention

For the first time, the Maha Kumbh will undergo extensive digitization to streamline operations and enhance the security of attendees. Recognizing the growing threats posed by online fraud and cybercrimes, the government has taken proactive measures by establishing a dedicated cyber police station in the fair area. This facility will safeguard against cyber threats, including misuse of AI, the dark web, and social media platforms.

Deployment of Cyber Experts

A specialized team of cyber experts, selected from across Uttar Pradesh, has been stationed at Mahakumbhnagar. These experts, operating around the clock, will focus on protecting devotees from fraudulent activities, particularly those perpetrated through fake websites, malicious links, and social media scams.

Monitoring and Action Plans

  • Website Surveillance: The team has identified and is monitoring 44 suspicious websites potentially linked to cyber fraud. Immediate action is being taken to dismantle these operations.
  • Mobile Cyber Units: Mobile units equipped with advanced technology are addressing complaints related to fake websites and fraudulent social media accounts in real-time.
  • Public Awareness Campaigns: Devotees are being informed about safe practices, such as using only official government websites (ending in gov.in) and reporting suspicious activities to the helpline number 1920.

Focus on Social Media Fraud

Special attention is being paid to scams involving AI, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram, particularly those soliciting money under false pretenses. Prompt action is ensured upon receiving complaints, and offenders will face strict legal consequences.

Technological Integration

The Maha Kumbh’s cybersecurity strategy emphasizes integrating advanced tools and techniques. Cyber experts will use real-time monitoring systems and advanced analytics to detect and mitigate threats swiftly. This tech-driven approach ensures that the event remains secure despite the massive scale of attendance.

A Landmark Event

Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directive, the Maha Kumbh 2025 is poised to set new standards in event management, combining tradition with cutting-edge technology. The focus on cybersecurity reflects a commitment to protecting the interests and well-being of every devotee attending this sacred gathering.
