New Delhi: Team India’s former fast bowler Zaheer Khan may be seen in a new role in IPL 2025. According to latest reports, talks are going on with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the role of mentor of Zaheer Khan. There is talk of keeping Zaheer Khan, a member of India’s 2011 ODI World Cup winning team, in place of Gautam Gambhir. If Zaheer takes up this position, then the bowlers of Lucknow Super Giants will get a lot of help because Zaheer has been a legendary bowler.
Talks going on with LSG
There is no mentor in Lucknow since Gautam Gambhir moved to Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023. Apart from this, Morne Morkel has also become the bowling coach of the Indian team. Now the team has two such positions on which new recruitment can be done. According to the report, talks are going on with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the role of mentorship of Zaheer Khan.
In fact, the current coaching setup of Lucknow Super Giants includes Adam Voges, Jonty Rhodes, Lance Klusener, Sridharan Sriram and Praveen Tambe as well as head coach Justin Langer. The report states that there is also talk of adding another head coach to the Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise, but the details are not yet completely clear.
Worked with Mumbai Indians, good IPL experience
Zaheer Khan has extensive coaching experience in IPL. He has worked with Mumbai Indians. He used to give tips to young bowlers during his cricket career. In IPL, he has played for Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals. He played his last match in the year 2017. He has taken a total of 102 wickets in 100 IPL matches.
