World Pharmacists Day 2026 Celebrated at Pharmacy Department of Rohilkhand University

Bareilly: World Pharmacists Day 2026 was celebrated with enthusiasm and active participation of students at the Department of Pharmacy, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, on September 25. The programme was held under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar Rai. This year’s theme, “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures,” highlighted the evolving role of pharmacists and their contribution to healthcare.

The programme was coordinated by Head of the Department Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Kishore and Dr. Amit Kumar Verma. Dr. Ravi Prakash, Scientist, Agricultural Structure and Environmental Control Division, ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana, and Dr. Indrasen Chauhan, Senior Scientist, IVRI, Bareilly, attended as chief guests.

The event began with the formal welcome of the guests, professors and faculty members. Yashraj Vashishtha and Anand Kumar Verma welcomed the dignitaries, followed by a Saraswati Vandana presented by first-year students Riya and Anchal.

In his welcome address, Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Kishore emphasised that pharmacists are an important part of the healthcare system and encouraged students to develop professional knowledge, practical skills, ethical values and a strong sense of responsibility.

Prof. (Dr.) Shobhana Singh spoke about the evolution of pharmacy as a healthcare discipline encompassing medicines, patient care, research and public health. Dr. Shiv Dev Singh highlighted pharmacists’ responsibilities regarding the safe and effective use of medicines, professional ethics, communication and patient-centred care.

Students collectively took the Pharmacist’s Oath. First- and second-year students participated in speech, rangoli and poster competitions, which were organised by third-year students.

Chief guest Dr. Indrasen Chauhan delivered a special lecture on “Personality Development” for first-year B.Pharm students, focusing on qualities essential for personal and professional growth.

Dr. Ravi Prakash conducted a special session on managing the mind and stress through the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and spiritual wisdom. He spoke about the importance of mental balance, self-reflection and a positive outlook.

A storytelling session was also presented by Krishangi Kritika Bora. The results of various competitions were announced, and winners received prizes and certificates.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by a Pharmacists’ Day awareness rally. The event provided students with an opportunity to engage with professional development, personality building and social responsibility while highlighting the vital role of pharmacists in healthcare.
