Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has directed senior officials of the Rural Development Department to ensure the creation of women-friendly workplaces across rural areas under the provisions of the Viksit Bharat–G Ram G Act 2025. Stressing the government’s commitment to strengthening women’s participation in the rural economy, he said every effort must be made to provide safe, inclusive and supportive working conditions for female workers.
Maurya emphasized that women labourers should be able to work without worrying about the care of their young children. He instructed officials to appoint a dedicated female caregiver at every worksite where five or more children below the age of five are present. The caregiver will be responsible for the children’s safety and well-being during working hours and will receive timely payment at the prescribed wage rate. The initiative is expected to benefit working mothers while simultaneously creating additional employment opportunities for women.
The Deputy Chief Minister also directed officials to ensure that essential facilities at worksites are maintained without compromise, particularly in view of the changing weather conditions. He instructed that all worksites must have access to safe and adequate drinking water. In addition, sufficient shaded areas and protective arrangements should be made to safeguard workers from extreme heat and the approaching monsoon season, ensuring that labourers are not exposed to adverse weather conditions that could affect their health.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to worker welfare, Maurya said the double-engine government is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of every labourer while integrating all sections of workers into the mainstream of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also directed officials to conduct regular field inspections to ensure transparency in development works and strict adherence to prescribed guidelines and standards.
