Lucknow: The Lucknow University Second Campus Unit hosted an exciting weightlifting competition as part of its annual “Khel Kumbh” event, where participants showcased their strength and determination in a highly competitive environment. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, with many demonstrating their prowess in various weight categories.
Aman Singh Chandel, the District Coordinator for the event, addressed the audience and emphasized the importance of sports in daily life. “Sports are an essential part of our lives. They not only keep us physically fit but also contribute to our mental, physical, and social development. Engaging in sports increases our bodily strength and keeps us healthy. Moreover, sports teach us valuable lessons in science, psychology, teamwork, discipline, and ethics,” he stated.
Chandel further explained that the significance of sports goes beyond physical health. “The psychological benefits of playing sports are just as crucial. It refreshes and energizes the mind, reduces mental stress, and helps us maintain a positive and healthy mindset.”
The competition saw participants competing in various weight categories, and the results were as follows:
- 59 kg category: Ansh Cooler took first place
- 65 kg category: Aditya clinched the top spot
- 75 & 80 kg category: Pankaj Yadav and Haider shared the first position
- 95 kg category: Deep Singh triumphed by lifting an impressive 220 kg, securing victory in his category
The winners were felicitated with certificates and medals by Professor Mohammad Ahmed, the Chief Proctor of Lucknow University Second Campus, who praised their efforts and encouraged them to continue excelling in their chosen sports.
The event was judged by esteemed referees Shivam Kumar, Devansh Pandey, and Jeet Singh, who played a crucial role in ensuring the competition’s smooth conduct.
Among the attendees were unit president Siddharth Tiwari, Shesh Mani Singh, Sanidhya Mishra, and other active participants who contributed to making the event a grand success. The event not only highlighted the athletic talents of the university students but also reinforced the university’s commitment to promoting physical fitness and sportsmanship.
