Vaibhav Krishna Appointed DIG for Mahakumbh Mela

Lucknow: In a significant administrative reshuffle late Saturday night, two IPS officers in Uttar Pradesh were transferred. By Sunday morning, the appointment of DIG Vaibhav Krishna as the new Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for the Mahakumbh Mela security and management became a notable update. Krishna, previously serving as DIG in Azamgarh, has been entrusted with the massive responsibility of overseeing the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. Meanwhile, Sunil Singh, who earlier served as Deputy Inspector General (Traffic), has been appointed as the new DIG of Azamgarh.

Vaibhav Krishna: A Key Role in Mahakumbh’s Security

Vaibhav Krishna, a 2010 batch IPS officer, hails from Baghpat district. With a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Roorkee, Krishna embarked on his civil services journey, clearing the UPSC exam in 2009 with an All-India Rank of 86. His experience in managing high-stakes security operations makes his appointment crucial for the smooth conduct of the Mahakumbh Mela, one of the largest religious gatherings globally.

DGP Inspects Mahakumbh Area

Ahead of the Mahakumbh Mela, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar conducted an extensive inspection of the fairgrounds on Saturday. The DGP visited key locations such as the VIP Ghats, Sangam Area, Police Lines, and other significant sites in the Mela complex.

During the inspection, the DGP emphasized the need for robust security arrangements to ensure the safety of the millions of devotees and saints expected to attend. He stressed vigilance and preparedness to prevent any untoward incidents during the event.

Prioritizing Devotee Convenience

At the VIP Ghats, the DGP reviewed the security setup and directed officials to maintain a seamless coordination between VIP visitors and the general devotees. He instructed that adequate measures be taken to ensure that pilgrims face no inconvenience.

During his visit to the Police Lines, the DGP lauded the preparedness of police personnel and commended their dedication to fulfilling their responsibilities.
