Bareilly: The Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission has taken suo motu cognisance of a viral social media video allegedly showing a man brutally assaulting his stepchild in Bareilly.
State Women’s Commission member Pushpa Pandey treated the matter with urgency and immediately contacted the Station House Officer (SHO) of Prem Nagar Police Station over the phone to obtain details of the incident. She directed the police to ensure prompt legal action against the accused in accordance with the law.
The Commission also instructed the Child Helpline authorities to intervene without delay to safeguard the child’s welfare and initiate all necessary procedures under the applicable child protection laws.
Expressing serious concern over the incident, Pushpa Pandey stated that violence or abuse against children would not be tolerated under any circumstances. She emphasized that the Commission is committed to ensuring the safety and protection of children and that strict legal action would be taken against those found guilty of committing such offences.

The matter is currently under the attention of the police and child protection authorities, who have been directed to take appropriate action and ensure the child’s safety.
