Gonda Transport Department, Traffic Police Crack Down on Traffic Violations; 100 Vehicles Challaned

Gonda: In a major road safety enforcement drive, the Transport Department and Traffic Police conducted a joint operation across Gonda district, taking strict action against traffic rule violators. The campaign, led by the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Administration), aimed to improve road safety, enhance public awareness of traffic regulations, and reduce road accidents through stringent enforcement.

During the drive, intensive vehicle checks were carried out at key intersections, busy roads, and other sensitive locations across the district. Officials inspected vehicles for compliance with traffic regulations and verified essential documents.

The joint enforcement team took action against motorists found riding without helmets, driving without valid licences, operating vehicles without High Security Registration Plates (HSRP), lacking valid insurance, driving under the influence of alcohol, and committing other traffic violations. Authorities reiterated that adherence to traffic rules is not merely a legal obligation but a critical measure for safeguarding the lives of all road users.

As part of the campaign, 100 vehicles were issued challans for various violations. Additionally, 15 vehicles, including 20 two-wheelers found with serious irregularities, were seized during the operation. Officials advised motorists to always carry valid vehicle documents, adhere to prescribed speed limits, wear helmets and seat belts, and never drive under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants.

Speaking on the occasion, the ARTO (Administration) said such joint enforcement drives would continue on a regular basis to establish a safer, more disciplined, and well-regulated traffic system in the district. The official appealed to the public to strictly follow traffic regulations, keep all vehicle documents updated, and observe prescribed safety measures while driving.

The Transport Department emphasized that the initiative is not limited to penal action but also seeks to foster a sense of responsibility among citizens towards road safety. Officials expressed confidence that greater public cooperation and increased awareness would significantly reduce road accidents and contribute to a safer and smoother traffic environment across Gonda district.
