UP’s OTS Scheme Receives Over One Lakh Applications, Offers ₹67.33 Crore Relief

Lucknow: The One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme being implemented across Uttar Pradesh to help taxpayers clear old municipal dues has received more than one lakh applications, according to the Urban Development Department.

The scheme, being implemented across all 762 urban local bodies, has received 1,00,006 applications so far. Of these, 65,457 applications have been approved, while 32,737 are under process.

The OTS scheme covers 17 municipal corporations, 200 municipal councils and 545 nagar panchayats, providing eligible taxpayers relief in settling outstanding house tax, water tax and sewerage tax dues. Against a total demand of ₹176.61 crore, ₹40.85 crore has been recovered so far, while relief worth ₹67.33 crore has been extended to eligible beneficiaries. A total of 65,457 taxpayers have directly benefited from the scheme.

Urban Development and Energy Minister A.K. Sharma said the scheme was aimed at strengthening the financial position of urban local bodies while providing taxpayers with a convenient opportunity to settle their old dues. He urged eligible taxpayers to make use of the scheme within the stipulated period.

Residential properties account for the largest share of applications. Of the total applications received, 80,465, or around 80.5 per cent, relate to residential properties. Another 11,158 applications, or 11.2 per cent, concern commercial properties, while 8,382 applications, or 8.4 per cent, belong to other categories. Based on the relief extended so far, beneficiaries have received an average relief of approximately ₹10,286.63 each.

To make payment easier, taxpayers have been given the option of paying their outstanding dues in up to three instalments. The scheme has been operational since August 15, 2026, and taxpayers can avail themselves of its benefits until December 15.

The Urban Development Department is also organising special camps in various urban local bodies to increase awareness and facilitate applications. Citizens are being provided information about eligibility, the application process and available relief, along with assistance in completing the settlement process.

The department has appealed to eligible taxpayers to use the OTS scheme to settle their pending house tax, water tax and sewerage tax dues. It said the initiative would provide relief to citizens while strengthening the revenue base and financial capacity of urban local bodies.

Further information and applications are available through the departmental portal upulbots.in.
