Lucknow: The Union Budget 2025 has set the stage for transformative, infrastructure-led growth with a record allocation of Rs 1.5 lakh crore in the form of 50-year interest-free loans to states for infrastructure projects. While Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s speech focused on broad-based reforms across roads, railways, urban governance, and AI innovation, the significant boost to the Jal Jeevan Mission’s outlay underscores an integrated approach to water management. This reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring 100% potable water supply to households—a critical element within its overall infrastructure strategy.
Rasmi Ranjan Ray, CEO of SUEZ India, said, ‘For SUEZ India, this balanced vision is particularly encouraging. It not only supports high-impact asset monetisation and long-term state financing through 50-year interest-free loans but also reinforces the need for modern, sustainable water and wastewater treatment solutions. I am delighted to see the government has high ambition for a Viksit Bharat and continues with its transformative work from its last two terms into Budget 2025.
