Lucknow: Kanya Puja has huge significance in Chaitra Navratri. It is performed on the Ashtami and Navami tithi of Chaitra Navratri. It is said in the scriptures that Navratri worship is considered completed only after the worship of a girl child. There is a rule to break the fast during Navratri only after worshiping 9 girls.
On the seventh day of Chaitra Navratri, a Kanya Puja program was organized by Prerna family at Gomti Nagar Extension CMS auditorium in Lucknow. In this, Governor Anandiben Patel worshipped 2100 girls. The entire hall was filled with little girls. The occasion was of Navratri festival but all the little girls were seen dancing to patriotic songs. Despite this, the entire auditorium remained devotional during the aarti of Goddess Durga on the Saptami day of Chaitra Navratri.
Notably, Kanya Bhoj was organized by Prerna Sanstha in Gomtinagar extension. This program is done by CMS. There was a lot of enthusiasm among the girls while getting their photo clicked with the Governor.
