Lucknow: Energy and Urban Development Minister AK Sharma expressed grief over the death of three bike riders due to coming in contact with the electric line of 11 KV Gola-Mohammadi feeder under Thana Hyderabad of Lakhimpur district and directed strict action against the culprits. In this sequence, the Executive Engineer, SDO, JE have been suspended. At the same time, action is also being taken against others.
In the Thana Hyderabad area of Lakhimpur district, on June 17, 2024 at 16.00 pm, three people going to Pilibhit on a motorcycle died on the spot after coming in contact with the electric line of 11 KV Gola-Mohammadi feeder, while two people were seriously injured. Energy Minister AK Sharma expressed deep grief over the incident and directed the Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited and MD of MVVNL that the team of Energy Department along with the police and district administration should reach the spot and help and get the injured treated. The injured were sent to CHC Gola for treatment.
Energy wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, ‘I pray to God to give peace to the souls of the deceased and give strength to their families to bear the grief. Also, may God completely heal the injured immediately.’
The Energy Minister said that an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh is being given to the families of each deceased and Rs 50,000 each is being given to the injured.
Proceedings underway against three suspended others
Energy Minister A.K. Sharma also directed to take strict action against the officers and personnel found guilty in the tragic incident in Lakhimpur. In view of this, after preliminary investigation, Executive Engineer- Gola Raj Narayan, SDO Sub Division First Vineet Kumar, JE Gola Town Amrit Lal have been suspended. Action has also been initiated against other personnel. Along with this, the Energy Minister has also given strict instructions to prevent such incidents from happening again.
