Stringent Measures Implemented After Stampede at Mahakumbh

Mahakumbh

Prayagraj: In the wake of the recent stampede at the Sangam in Prayagraj during the Mahakumbh, which resulted in the tragic loss of lives, the administration has implemented strict measures to prioritize crowd control and ensure the safety of pilgrims. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the arrangements and issued fresh directives to authorities.

Mahakumbh Declared a Complete No-Vehicle Zone

The entire Mahakumbh area has been designated as a no-vehicle zone, prohibiting the entry of all types of vehicles. Authorities have appealed to pilgrims to adhere to the rule of pedestrian travel and cooperate with traffic regulations. This step aims to reduce congestion and ensure the smooth movement of devotees.

Cancellation of VVIP Passes

In a significant move, all VVIP passes have been revoked, ensuring that no individual is granted special privileges for vehicle entry. This decision is expected to facilitate better crowd management and reduce the strain on resources in the fairground.

Implementation of One-Way Traffic System

To streamline the movement of pilgrims, the administration has introduced a one-way traffic system across the fairground. This arrangement aims to organize pedestrian flow and prevent any disruptions that could lead to chaos.

Ban on Entry of External Vehicles

Four-wheeler vehicles from neighboring districts are now being stopped at the city borders of Prayagraj. This measure is expected to play a critical role in crowd management and prevent disarray within the fair premises.

Strict Ban on Four-Wheelers Until February 4

All four-wheeler vehicles have been completely banned from operating within the city limits until February 4. Only vehicles related to essential services will be permitted to operate during this period, ensuring smooth traffic management.

Appeal for Cooperation from Pilgrims

The administration has urged devotees to comply with these rules and avoid any activities that may cause disruption in the fair area. Officials have stated that these changes have been made with the safety and convenience of the pilgrims in mind, ensuring that the Mahakumbh remains a well-organized and secure event.

With these strict measures in place, the authorities are confident of managing the massive influx of pilgrims while preventing any further unfortunate incidents during this grand religious event.
